EQUATOR HALF DAY TOUR
Middle of the World City
-
The Middle of the World City is a tourist complex administered by the Government of the Province of Pichincha, located in the parish of San Antonio, north of the city of Quito.
-
Its main attraction is the Middle of the World Monument, designed to mark the location of the Equator line, from which Ecuador takes its name. This site also highlights the work of the 18th-century Franco-Spanish Geodesic Mission, whose studies made it possible to determine the approximate location through which the equinoctial line passes.
-
Within the complex, visitors will find the Middle of the World Ethnographic Museum, dedicated to showcasing the cultural diversity of Ecuador’s indigenous peoples. In addition, visitors can explore information related to the production of emblematic national products such as coffee, chocolate, and beer.
-
The area surrounding the monument is designed as a small tourist town, offering a variety of dining options featuring traditional Ecuadorian cuisine.
