Papallacta is a small town in the Napo Province, located at 3,300 MSNM in the Andes Mountains, from Quito to Papallacta there are 80km, right next to the eastern mountain ranges on the road to Quito that leads to the Amazon rainforest.

The panoramic route from Quito to Papallacta passes through several  small Cities and Towns,  before ascending to a peak of more than 4,000 m, from where you can see the mountains and glaciers.

Descending from the peak to Papallacta, the ecosystems are transformed from the Paramo area to the tropical jungle. 


Several hot springs and spas are found in Papallacta. Many of the local restaurants are known for their steamed trout and typical food from the area.
